Behind the success of the Indian women’s cricket team at the World Cup, where they finished second twice, lies the leadership skills of their capable captains who led the team from the front.

As the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 knocks on the door, marking India’s 10th appearance at the prestigious tournament, The Bridge looks back at all the inspirational women who have led the Women in Blue at the ODI World Cup since India made their debut in 1978.

A keen sportswoman, Diana Edulji dabbled in basketball and table tennis before opting for cricket, excelling as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler.
