India National Cricket Team West Indies Cricket Team – West Indies cricket is emerging from the last phase. They were low in the early 2010s but improved in the mid-2010s. Currently West Indies cricket is average. The team peaked at number 9 in the ICC rankings, but this does not hide the fact that the team was once an unbeatable force. So, what happened to the West Indies cricket team that sent chills down the spine of the opposition just by existing? Where are the strongest and most powerful players? Here’s a closer look:
The first and foremost reason is that their standard of play has gone down. The backbone of Caribbean batting, Sir Viv Richards, Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes left the team due to retirement. Inspirational figures like Clive Lloyd who had high leadership qualities resigned. The quartet who sent chills down the spines of their opponents were also near their lowest point. Hence, the standard of cricket played by the entire team has gone down.

The West Indies cricket team is a mixture of players from the Caribbean Islands. Hence, Jamaica does not have a cricket team at the national level. Barbados does not have a team at the national level. But the players from these islands play for the Caribbean Islands under the name of West Indies.
West Indies: Many Countries, One Team
So, for the West Indies Cricket Board to get the money, they have to get approval from all the national bodies. This was affected by the delay in disbursement of government funding. Also, funds shifted from cricket to basketball. Caribbean stars like Patrick Ewing, Tim Duncan and Carl Herrera have played in the NBA. The government thought the NBA was in the future, but it wasn’t.
So, when money is tight, no one wants to play the game. Imagine, if you are a worker and you are not getting paid well, will you work wholeheartedly? The same happened with the West Indian players. They have always fought with the organization to get higher salaries.
Akash Chopra spoke the truth in one of his YT channel videos. He said that the West Indies team does not have a national anthem and the players are from the national team. There is a cricket song they play before every match. How many players know and sing along with the cricket song? There are only 11, and only a handful of them do! Chopra said this. Now, it has nothing to do with the game the boys are playing, because they play it well. But are the players committed?
Indians have a nationality when they play for India. South Africans have South Africa, Australians in Australia, etc. But is that the case with the West Indian players? That’s a thought worth pondering!

Will All Format Players Become A Thing Of The Past?
Chennai Super Kings have won TATA IPL 2023 and now they have 5th IPL titles and they have successfully chased the target. Devon Conway bowled well, conceding 47 runs, while Matisha Pathirana took two wickets in four overs. Ravindra Jadeja’s six and a four off the last two balls sealed victory for CSK. It is a known fact that no other international team in the world gets the support that the Indian cricket team gets when playing in other countries. In the last decade, Indians have also started representing other countries in international cricket, with Ish Sodhi and Ravi Bopara being good examples. The West Indies cricket team also has its fair share of Indian representation and in this article, we will look at five such players,
Bishoo hails from a small Hindu community in Guyana where Hindu traditions still exist today. Bhishu does not know exactly where in India his ancestors, who migrated to Guyana during British rule, lived. Surprisingly, he is married to a Muslim girl and likes to spend time with his family at holy places in India. He played 85 matches for West Indies and took more than 150 wickets. Also a veteran of the Caribbean Premier League, he has the highest average in the competition at 6.29.
Ramdin is another popular cricketer from the Indo-Guyanese community. Like many others on the list, his ancestors belonged to Bhojpuri-speaking communities in UP and Bihar. He represented the West Indies in 75 Tests and established himself as the longest-serving wicket-keeper. He is a classic keeper, a cricketer who cares more about keeping than batting. After Chanderpaul’s departure, he also managed the West Indies for a while. Moreover, he has played 139 ODIs and 71 T20Is for his country and currently represents St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL.
Sarwan built his career as a reliable top-order batsman in Tests and ODIs in the first decade of this millennium. After a poor start in Australia, Sarwan made up for it with a strong performance away from home. His family also hails from the Guyanese Indian community, but he currently plays for the Trinbago Knight Riders. His best performance was in England in 2009 when he scored 291 runs at Bridgetown. With an average of 40 in Tests and ODIs, he has served his team well in the T20 format as well.
Even Steve Waugh’s Australia, Clive Lloyd’s West Indies Can’t Match India’s 15 Series Winning Streak At Home
The term “underrated” really befits Chanderpaul in his field of play, as his standard of cricket was far removed from the glitz and glamor of his peers and Caribbean legends. Born to Indo-Guyanese parents Kamaraj and Uma, Chanderpaul made his Test debut at the age of 19 but did not score a single century for nearly three years. But after his early struggles, he remained steadfast in the game and went on to score over 11,000 runs for the West Indies in Test cricket. Known for his crab-like form, Chanderpaul has played over 250 ODIs for West Indies at an average of 40.
One of the few foreigners to hold cult status in India, Narine has taken the country by storm with his IPL exploits leading KKR to two victories. He was the talk of the town as his wealth level dispelled the illusion that he could easily beat spinners in the shorter format. Narine was born in Trinidad, but her family has Indo-Guyanese roots.
His wife also has ties to India and he has admitted in many interviews that India is like his second home. After his brief spell in the spotlight as a result of speculation, Narine rose to prominence again by opening the batting and surprising everyone with his batting. He doesn’t have the same fear among batsmen, but many of his peers still consider him a world-class cricketer. India need players who can play in Ore Freedo by beating Virat Kohli and Rohit Shara in T20s. India won the first T20I despite scoring fewer boundaries than the West Indies, but as important as Kohli’s knock was, that was the exception, not the rule. That is why the West Indies are going down the selection process.
He knew it was important. Near the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, when Virat Kohli offered the West Indies a bowler, he took one before walking into the dressing room. With the hand used to shake hands, he held the heels under his arms and lifted them up. He raised his bat to the applause of the laughing crowd. It was a custom that was often preserved for a century. His innings of 94 not out from 50 balls was a paltry six but a valuable one.

It was also an innings that showed a very different side of Kohli, a side he saw Ortal, and for that reason it was important. Because of that bond, he couldn’t buy a gun, even with the shameless skills in his hands (or any zero in his bank). He lived up to the edge of his bat: a boundary from Hayden Walsh Jr. to fine-leg – that Sheldon Cottrell inswinger – one saved by Hi. It was an unknown version of Kohli, as cheap as that. The bottled wine has been pouring goodness for ten years. With 3 balls from 9 and 20 from 20, no one could have predicted the store ahead. The result: a better person
