The only other time Dravid had to sit out during his Test career was when he missed two home matches against South Africa in January 2010 in Bangladesh due to the bouncer of Shahadat Hussain.
For 11 years in a row, starting in 2002, Giordani did not miss a single exam. Meanwhile, he led Sri Lanka with distinction across all formats in one of the highlights of the 2007 World Cup finals. Oliver McIntosh, CEO of Digicel SportsMax, the pan-Caribbean sports television network, says he is concerned about West Indies’ upcoming tour of South Africa and says the WICB needs major changes.
“We are releasing the West Indies tour to South Africa in December and January. We have invested heavily in rights and talent. We started selling it, we have sponsors, and if it doesn’t happen, you have to give up completely, you have to go back to the sponsors and return the money,” he told Reuters in an interview.
“We are worried. It affects our audience. If there is no more West Indies cricket, it will be a big blow for us, a big blow,” he added.
While previous governments in the Caribbean have intervened in the various crises plaguing the West Indies, McIntosh says it is the sponsors and other supporters who must push the WICB to make major changes.
